Officer's Summer White Visor Cap

This cap was worn from the late 1930's until the end of World War II. It was carefully fabricated in white cotton, with wide black ribbed rayon cap band, plus three rows of silver bullion piping around the circumference, fronted by a Luftwaffe insignia pair that includes a silvered aluminum national eagle above a high relief silver bullion oak leaf wreath with stylized wings and cockade, strap along the visor's top is tightly wrapped silver bullion, with pebbled gilt side posts, front visor is patent leather, finely stitched at the brim, underside of the visor is synthetic, with a simulated leather headband, silk lined pale gold (champagne) underside of the cap features a plastic stamp "Verkaufs - Abteilung de Luftwaffe Berlin SW 68" (Luftwaffe Sales Department, Berlin) with a sleeve for owner identification, without size designation, 230 mm x 275 mm x 135 mm in height, white cotton displays age discolouration and sweat staining, along with some staining on the silk liner, finely crafted, very fine.
