Austria, Imperial. An Order of Leopold, Commander Cross, with Swords and War Decoration (Rothe Copy)

(Österreichisch-kaiserlicher Leopold-Orden). Instituted on 8 January 1808 by Franz I of Austria. Post-1945 Copy. A Commander Cross, constructed of gilded bronze with red and white enamels, with gilt swords crossing through the cross centre, the obverse centre presenting the initials F I A, circumscribed by INTEGRITATI ET MERITO (FOR INTEGRITY AND MERIT), reverse centre with motto of Leopold II OPES REGUM CORDA SUBDITORUM (THE POWER OF RULERS LIES IN THE HEARS OF THEIR SUBJECTS), within a golden wreath of oak leaves, adorned by a detailed Austrian crown in addition to green enamelled laurels, measures 39.93 mm (w) x 80.65 mm (h - inclusive of crown and horizontally pierced ball suspension), on flat suspension loop with period original neck ribbon in a red colour with white borders, and in overall near extremely fine condition.
