Army Long Service & Good Conduct Medal
Victorian issue, swiveling scroll, large letters on reverse (1855-74), officially engraved: MATHEW HERRON PTE. 55TH. FOOT. Very fine. Matthew Herron a labourer from Kirealdy, attested for service in the 55th Foot at Edinburgh on 28th December 1833, aged eighteen and a half years, he was given the regimental number of 903. He served for 22 years, 151 days being discharged medically unfit 30th June 1856. His overseas service included nearly seven years in the East Indies and China for three and a half years. Sold with photocopy discharge papers, which confirm entitlement to his LS & GC medal and also China 1842 medal.
