Army (Heer) Flak Officer's Visor Cap
Army (Heer) Flak Officer's Visor Cap - This fine quality cap has three rows of red piping, with the body of the cap fabricated from a gray wool, featuring the classic high peak and rounded saddle-shaped sides. It has a wool forest green band around its circumference, which supports a three-piece constructed aluminum cockade on the front. The cockade has a painted black base incorporating a silvered ring and red felt centre, surrounded by a silver wreathing. Immediately above on the crown is an aluminum Germany Army (Heer) cap eagle insignia, which features very intricate detail. The visor is black vulcanfibre with a silver bullion cord above, in two rows, knotted in the appropriate-style on the sides and held in position via pebbled gilt posts on both sides. The underside of the visor is synthetic, crosshatched and finished in tan. The tan headband is a simulated leather, with the two ends joined at the seam via a pin at the back. The dome itself has a black rayon liner, with a clear moisture shield stamped "Ludw. Hamm, Militar-Effekten, Feine Mass-Schneiderel fur Zivil und Uniform, Niederlahnstein, Bahnhofstrasse 13c", with a size stamp "57" below and is unnamed. Overall, it measures 220 mm x 270 mm x 170 mm in height. The cap has minor contact marks on the vulcanfibre visor, along with cracking and sweat staining on the well-worn headband. However, it continues to exhibit smooth quality in the wool, plus quality workmanship, very clean and free of staining on the exterior, maintaining its original period look, in extremely fine condition.
