Army Dagger by A. Schüttelhöfer & Co. Solingen-Walo - Measuring 400 mm, with the scabbard on, this dagger features a 255 mm nickel-plated steel blade, with unsharpened edges, remaining bright and crisp, and having a dull tip. The blade's reverse ricasso is maker marked A. Schüttelhöfer & Co. Solingen-Walo with the company's dual horse insignia. It retains its crossgraining, with faint scratches overall, common to extraction and return to the scabbard, and a natural shine, rating extremely fine. The thick brown leather washer at the crossguard junction remains intact. Crossguard with a finely-detailed Army eagle, a wreathed swastika clenched in its talons, oak leaf design on the band and pommel, contact marks on the pommel's end and reverse of the crossguard. Yellowish-orange celluolid grip features a series of ten parallel ridges, the grip with minor nips and marks, the metal parts with dark patinas, measuring 370 mm in length. The scabbard is nicely pebbled, magnetic, the bands exhibiting the traditional oak leaves design, each with rings, dual screws holding the throat in place, free of dents, gilt wear evident on the locket and ball finial, dark patina, the scabbard measuring 282 mm in length. Extremely fine.
