An SA Dagger by Wilhelm Kober & Co, Suhl
An SA Dagger by Wilhelm Kober & Co, Suhl - Measuring 370 mm in length with the scabbard on, this SA dagger is engraved and blackened "Alles für Deutschland" on the blade, exhibiting beautiful crossgraining, with the usual in and out runner marks, semi-sharp edges and a very sharp tip. It is maker marked with the wide oval Wilhelm Kober & Co, Suhl stamp, illustrating the company's centaur insignia, measuring 220 mm in length and rating near mint. Nickel plated fittings on both crossguards, along with the pommel, the reverse of the central crossguard with the "Th" (Thuringen) SA Group mark, the "h" double-stamped, exhibiting very light contact. Wooden handle with a very bright, smooth finish, very light contact and without chipping, fitting tight to both crossguards. The embedded finely-detailed aluminum eagle shows well and rates near extremely fine, while the SA insignia exhibits very light contact, also rating near extremely fine. Green oxidation and surface wear evident on the hardware and insignia, along with white paint on the obverse of the handle, the dagger measuring 337 mm overall. The scabbard fittings exhibit very light contact and surface wear, the reverse of the locket exhibiting green oxidation. The brown painted body has a gloss finish, magnetic, exhibiting moderate contact marks and surface wear in the paint from active use, the chape and locket each held firmly in place via two screws, the ring attached to the locket, an original leather dagger hanger strap attached to the ring with buckle and functioning clip, slight crazing in the leather, the scabbard measuring 245 mm in length. Better than extremely fine with a near mint blade.
