An Order of Merit of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg; Grand Cross - Grand Cross (silver gilt and enamels, 52 mm, on full-length sash); and Breast Star (two-piece construction, silver gilt and enamels, twelve-pointed star base, 85.7 mm x 86.5 mm, vertical pinback with flanking prongs). Light contact, extremely fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, raised medal platform with recessed medal beds, light scuffing, case better than very fine. Footnote: The Order was instituted on January 23, 1961, the 65th birthday of the Grand Duchess Charlotte, to be awarded to both Luxembourg citizens and foreigners who made a significant contribution to the reconstruction of the country after World War II.
