An M17 Combat Helmet - Size 60
This stamped, sheet steel construction, helmet retains about 95% of its original field-grey/green paint. The helmet has all three flat headed, liner retaining rivets, both dome headed chin strap retaining rivets and both of the extended ventilation side lugs all intact. The interior of the helmet has the post-May 1917 pattern, three pad leather liner with a metal retaining band intact. All three of the leather pads feature two fingers with drawstring holes to each, and padding pockets to the reverse. Padding is complete and shows period wear. The drawstring is a replacement. The interior left side apron has the manufactures/size code stamp that appears to be, "E.T.60", indicating manufacture by Eisen-und Httenwerke, AG Thale/Harz, size 64. Chinstrap is included. An excellent, complete, worn and used example.
