An Early (Brown-Shirt) SS Armband (Kampfbinde)
An Early (Brown-Shirt) SS Cotton Armband (Kampfbinde); this type of cotton armband was worn with the brown shirt. It features the distinctive (10mm wide, stitched onto red armband) black upper and lower borders; the central swastika is made of black cotton and stitched onto white field, which is separately machine stitched to the red cotton armband. The underside of the armband displays the usual circular stitching. Total length of the armband is approximately 40cm (or nearly 16 inches), and is 13cm high (just over 5 inches); these early SS cotton armbands are rarer than the more commonly found wool armbands, as the display on the brown shirts became less common with the introduction of the black tunic.
