An Early 1st Model Luftwaffe Dagger by David Malsch; Unit Marked

An Early 1st Model Luftwaffe Dagger by David Malsch; Unit Marked - This is an untouched, as discovered offerings; with the highest quality mounts - solid nickel fittings throughout. The pommel is a great looking example, exhibiting moderate overall. The sunwheel swastikas, on grip and the crossguard, are in excellent condition with pleasing old patina. Importantly, engraved is I/Flak R.25. The grip is made of carved wood, and covered with Moroccan dark blue leather. The leather covering shows moderate wear to the surfaces, and it is in very fine condition. The grip is tightly wrapped with twisted silvered wire. The scabbard shell is straight throughout, covered with dark blue Moroccan leather, matching color of the grip. There are only very minor scuffing to the leather; it is in very fine condition. The scabbard mounts are in excellent condition throughout, and aside from a couple of tiny dings, these early high quality mounts are in excellent condition, exhibiting nice old patina. The scabbard is equipped with an aluminum chain, with snap clip being maker marked on reverse.    The blade is a high quality nickel example, bright and shiny, with usual runner marks; overall this blade is in extremely fine condition. The reverse ricasso is lightly marked, as usual with this maker, with the producer name etched into blade. The etching consists of a single ellipse with the company logo (intertwined D.M.); around the circumference is the full maker’s name and location - David Malsch/ Steinbach (THUR). Below the maker mark is a waffenamt, a stickbird variety, having the number "5" in the center of the bird. The blade is protected by a matching blue leather washer.  Overall a fine quality dagger exhibiting moderate wear, with nice old patina, in extremely fine condition.
