An Army Long Service & Good Conduct Medal to the 55th Foot

An Army Long Service & Good Conduct Medal to the 55th Foot - Victorian issue, 2nd Type obverse, large letters on the reverse (1855-74), (Private Mathew Herron, 55th Regiment of Foot.). Naming is engraved in large capitals. Victorian swivel scroll suspension, light contact, better than very fine.  Footnote: Mathew Herron was from Kirkcaldy, Scotland and attested for service as a Private (903) with the 55th Regiment of Foot in Edinburgh, Scotland, on December 28, 1833, at the age of 18, stating that his trade was that of Labourer. He served with the 55th Foot for 22 years and 151 days, including seven years overseas service in the East Indies and three and a half years in China, before being discharged as "Medically Unfit" on June 30, 1856. His records indicate that he was entitled to the China War Medal 1842, in addition to his Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.
