An Army Dress Bayonet by C. Gustav Spitzer

An Army Dress Bayonet by C. Gustav Spitzer - Measuring 401 mm, with the scabbard on, this dagger features a 246 mm nickel-plated steel blade, with unsharpened edges, remaining bright and crisp, and having a sharp tip. It is un-engraved with fullers on both sides, while the reverse ricasso is maker marked "C. Gustav Spitzer, Solingen" with the company's left-facing lion insignia. It retains its crossgraining, in addition to scratches overall, common to extraction and return to the scabbard, and a natural shine, measuring 367 mm in length, better than very fine. The leather washer has hardened, remaining intact but has lost most of its black finish. Crossguard with quillon and pommel exhibit light contact and gilt wear, while both plates of the stag horn grip are held in place by two rivets and central pins. Accompanied by its black metal scabbard, magnetic, with frog stud, metal locket at the blade entry end held in place by one screw, ball finial, attached to a supple black leather frog, with heavy, durable, quality stitching, scabbard and frog measuring 45 mm x 400 mm, scabbard exhibiting multiple contact marks with some paint loss overall. Better than very fine.
