An 1941 RCAF Ronson Cigarette Case with Inset Lighter
An 1941 RCAF Ronson Cigarette Case with Inset Lighter - Polished metal with fine engraved vertical rules and brown dual-toned plates on the front and back covers, front cover with a panel in the centre engraved vertically with the initials "H N N", along with a 12 mm x 27 mm silver and enamelled RCAF insignia affixed below. Inside covers with buffed panels, each with spring-loaded retaining clips, the right one maker marked "RONSON", to hold the cigarettes firmly in place, the top frame of the left cover marked "R81" and engraved "PRESENTED TO S/L H.N. NELSON BY THE STAFF OF No. 15 RECRUITING CENTRE MONCTON N.B. NOV. 29 1941" in italic capitals on the inside front cover. Back cover designed to house cigarettes, as well as incorporating a lighter in its upper portion, push spring-loaded striker wheel and intact wick at the top, marked "R81" and "RONSON / U.S PAT. RE No 19,023. CANADA PATS. 2,88,148-289,889. BRIT. PAT. 291,695 DES. PAT. 81823 ART METAL WORKS, Inc. NEWARK, N.J. U.S.A." on the underside of the lighter repository, retaining screws on either side on the exterior, push release closure, 64.3 mm x 103.5 mm x 15.5 mm, extremely fine.
