A WWI British War Medal to the 14th Canadian Infantry - (164516 PTE. J.O. ST ONGE. 14-CAN.INF.). Naming is officially impressed. Contact marks and surface wear, very fine.   Footnote: Joseph Ovila St Onge was born on June 11, 1884 in Bonaventure, Quebec. He signed his Attestation Paper as a Private (164516) with the 84th Infantry Battalion, on September 24, 1915, in Hamilton, Ontario, at the age of 31, naming his next-of-kin as his mother, Mary F.X. St Onge of St Hyacinthe, Quebec, stating that he had no previous military service, that he was not married and that his trade was that of Millwright. St Onge signed a second Attestation Paper with the 171st Infantry Battalion "The Quebec Rifles" as a Private (684599) on July 1, 1916 in Richmond, Quebec, at the age of 32, naming his next-of-kin as his mother, Mary F.X. St Onge of St Hyacinthe, Quebec, stating that he had previous service with the 84th Infantry Battalion (although the records do not indicate as to why he left the 84th), that he was not married and that his trade was that of Millwright.
