Newfoundland Volunteer Service Medal, numbered "1046" on the rim, in Royal Mint Case of Issue; 1939-1945 Star; Atlantic Star; Defence Medal; and War Medal 1939-1945. Very crisp detail, original ribbons, near mint. Accompanied by addressed British shipping carton for the latter four awards addressed to P. Tramblett, 2 Elizabeth St. Liverpool E. Footnote: 1046 service number is recorded for Percy TREMBLETT Service Number PJX181260 (Royal Navy). Footnote: While the Second World War was bring fought, Newfoundland was still a separate British colony which did not enter Canadian Confederation until 1949. Consequently, Newfoundland servicemen did not qualify for the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, and this deficiency was not remedied until July 1981, when the Newfoundland provincial government instituted the Newfoundland Volunteer Service Medal. The medal could be claimed by next-of-kin of those who died in or since the war.
