A German National Forestry Service Official's Brocade and Buckle for Oberlandforsmeister

Buckle in aluminum with a gold-coloured wash, unmarked reverse, illustrating a left-facing eagle, its talons gripping a wreathed swastika, on a pebbled background, surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves and acorns with a ribbon at the base, buckle measuring 50.5 mm x 54.5 mm. Belt with fine aluminum wire and two rows of green embroidered on the upper, interlaced with white threading, forest green felt sides and underside, thick smooth finished butterscotch-coloured leather tab stitched in place on the underside on the right end, the tab with nine rows of two holes each for length adjustment, matching receiving clip on the left end, two sliders on the belt with matching uppers, the belt measuring 46 mm x 1,230 mm. Extremely fine.

Footnote: From the collection of approximately 900 German buckles accumulated by John R. Angolia, who start collecting buckles, belts and brocades from 1944 until around 1990; most of the buckles were obtained from the American and German veterans; most of these buckles present a core of Angolia’s book “Belt Buckles & Brocades of the Third Reich”, published in 2001.
