A German Imperial Coronation Banner

A German Imperial Coronation Banner - Extremely fine embroidery, exhibiting rich colours and intricate detail, illustrating a coronation scene in a circular frame in the centre, the Kaiser standing at the right before his throne and eight royal and religious figures standing at the left, a raised banner of an eagle hanging above the group, accents of silver bullion in the monarch's crown, along with accents of gold-coloured bullion and multi-coloured embroidery through the image, the circular frame trimmed in a repeating design incorporating yellow leafing, red and green simulated jewels, in addition to being interlaced with silver bullion wire, the frame interrupted at four equal points by traversing rows of gold-coloured bullion flanked by gold-coloured sequins, with ornate fleur-de-lys designs in silver bullion protruding from each of the four points onto the light blue field, surrounded by the inscription in Gothic lettering "Mit Gott für Kaiser und Vaterland" (With God for Kaiser and Fatherland), the bulk of the letters in silver bullion wire, with the capital letters (M, G, K, V) in gold-coloured bullion wire, all letters are raised and the bullion wrapped around a yellow yarn base, all four-sides on the perimeter are trimmed in 18 mm wide ornately-designed gold-coloured bullion, on a light blue cotton field, sewn back-to-back with a thick white cotton backer, 1,115 mm x 1,235 mm, light soiling in the lower right corner, interruption in the threading beside the eagle banner, separation of the perimeter trim from the blue field in a few locations, extremely fine.
