Two piece construction, bronze gilt with white enamels, unmarked, 43 mm x 61 mm, vertical pinback, intact enamels, light contact, worn yet extremely fine. One of the finest examples of this type we have offered. Approximately only 88 awards one of the rarest awards of the Third Reich. Footnote: The Danziger cross was donated by the Head of State of the Free City of Danzig , Gauleiter Albert Forster on 31 August 1939 and for services to the construction of the NSDAP in the district of Danzig and the National Socialist state Danzig as well as for building the defense of Danzig before 31 August 1939 awarded . Ceremonies took place mainly on the Danziger Traditionstag Nazis , the October 24, 1939 . As a national award the Danziger cross was assimilated to awards other German states since May 1, 1941 .
