A First War Royal Flying Corps Side Cap by Clement Sutherland Ltd. - Fabricated from an olive green-khaki wool with fold down flaps on either side, the flaps held up with black metal hooks fed through embroidered loops, the front with 13 mm wide bronze convex buttons, both maker marked "FIRMIN LONDON" on the reverse, illustrating the George V crown above "R.F.C." holding the two ends of the flaps together, a 37.5 mm x 44.5 mm bronze Royal Flying Corps badge on the left side, held in place via intact lugs and a pin on the inside of the cap. The inside is lined in olive green cotton with a 14 mm wide soft white sweatband, with a maker's label sewn on the right side inscribed "Clement H. Sunderland Ltd / 28-32 North John St. / LIVERPOOL / Military Tailors and Outfitters". The cap measures 115 mm x 300 mm, nice texture in the wool, quality stitching on all seams, maintaining its natural colour, one moth hole on the left flap, green oxidation evident on the two bronze buttons, moderate soiling evident on the interior from active use, near extremely fine
