Japan, Empire. A Victory Table Medal, Taisho 8 with Case, c.1919
(1919): Bronze, Japan Mint issued, engraver marked "J. Iida" on the reverse, obverse illustrating the shields of the Allied Nations (United States, France, Japan, Great Britain and Italy) inside a wreath composed of branches of oak leaves and acorns at the left and laurel leaves at the right, reverse illustrating a woman in flowing robes, two doves at her feet and a panorama of Japanese buildings to the right, inscriptions on both sides in Japanese, 54.7 mm, extremely fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, gilt charcteres on the lid, Japan Mint marked on the inside lid, lightly soiled recessed medal bed, scuffed exterior, surface rust evident on the latch, case fine.
