WWI American KIA Group to the 304th Engineers - Purple Heart (bronze gilt and enamels, engraved "LEON F JOHNSON" in capitals on the reverse, 34.5 mm x 43 mm); Mexican Border Service Medal (silvered bronze, numbered "40494" on the edge, 34 mm); WWI Victory Medal, 1 Clasp - MEUSE-ARGONNE (bronze gilt, 36.2 mm); and France: War Cross 1914-1918 (bronze, 37 mm, silver star (representative of five bronze ones) on the ribbon). Original ribbons with brooch pinbacks, light contact, near extremely fine. Accompanied by research papers confirming him on the roster of the 304th Engineers and on the Casualty List.Footnote: Corporal Leon F. Johnson was from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was with E Company, 304th Engineers, 79th Infantry Division, when he was Killed in Action on September 24, 1917 at Meuse-Argonne, France.
