A First War 134th Canadian Infantry Battalion Glengarry

A First War 134th (48th Highlanders) Infantry Battalion Glengarry - Browning copper, with original red felt backing, 46.8 mm x 58 mm, intact lugs and pin, green oxidation evident on the obverse, light contact, better than very fine. It is original to this cap and the lugs with pin on the interior has not been removed since the war. The Glengarry, has a strong leather bandwith a strong structure, shows period use and wear, only single tear on interior, with silk held in place by a period safety pin, very fine overall. Footnote:  The Battalion was raised and mobilized in Toronto, Ontario under the authority of G.O. 151, December 22, 1915. The Battalion sailed August 9, 1916 under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel A.A. Miller with a strength of 32 officers and 1,078 other ranks. In England, the Battalion was absorbed into the 12th Reserve Battalion. It was disbanded September 15, 1920.
