A Custom Made Luftwaffe Colonels Uniform
This excellent Flight Section Luftwaffe Colonel uniform is a very fine, private purchase four button tunic made of a thick cotton. There are no flaws in the outer jacket whatsoever. It stands in choice condition, showing very little wear. It has the four pockets with flaps and all buttons are the aluminum pebbled type. Carefully hand sewn, is a beautiful officers droop tail Luftwaffe breast insignia. The collar is piped with aluminum bullion and the collar tabs are beautiful yellow color velvet background with a full bullion wreath. The wreath is highlighted with crisp acorns. Inside the wreath are three birds, indicating the colonel rank. The shoulder boards are the sewn in type and the pebbled buttons are slightly smaller than the other buttons on the tunic. There are several award loops present, for ribbon bars and three awards. Importantly, this configuration indicates that this tunic is that of a First War Veteran and pilot. This tunic has fine French cuffs and the sleeves are lined with a silk having a solid pattern. The inside of the tunic is silk lined and gray material with a maker's label Victor Muller. Moreover, there is a upper hanging loop labelled Massarbeit meaning custom made. The inside dagger belt is solid and marked. Accompanying the tunic are matching pants, boots, and gloves. The pants are complete and without any holes and show minimal soiling on the interior. The boots exhibit wear from use, both on the exterior as well as the interior. The gloves, with buttons marked E, show discolouration caused by sweat, are made of a soft cotton, and are solid. Overall, this is a prime example of a private purchase uniform and is extremely fine overall.
