A 66th Magdeburg Infantry Regiment Army Etched Bayonet

Measuring 402 mm, with the scabbard on, this dagger features a 251 mm nickel-plated steel blade, magnetic, with unsharpened edges, remaining relatively bright and crisp, having a sharp tip, with fullers on both sides. It is engraved on the obverse with a left-facing Army (Heer) eagle, a wreathed swastika in its talons, inscribed "Zur Erinnerung an" at the left and "meine Dienstzeit" at the right (In Memory of My Service Period) inside an elongated hexagon frame composed of oak leaves. The reverse is engraved with a group of four left-facing artillerymen with an artillery gun, inscribed "Inf. Regt. 66" at the left and "Magdeburg" at the right (66th Magdeburg Infantry Regiment) inside an elongated hexagon frame composed of oak leaves, and marked "SOLINGEN" on the reverse ricasso. It exhibits scratches overall, common to extraction and return to the scabbard, and a natural shine, measuring 372 mm in length, near extremely fine. Thick black finished leather washer has hardened and remains intact. Crossguard with quillon and pommel exhibit very light contact, the nickel-plating intact, while both plates of the black synthetic grip are firmly held in place by two rivets and central pins. Accompanied by its black-painted metal scabbard, magnetic, with frog stud and ball finial, exhibiting contact marks throughout and surface wear on the ball finial, the scabbard measuring 278 mm in length. Attached is the supple black leather frog, unmarked, with heavy, durable, quality stitching, the frog measuring 54 mm x 215 mm. Near extremely fine. (C:18)
