A 2nd Model RLB Officer's Dagger by Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Co. Solingen - Measuring 393 mm, with the scabbard, this dagger features a 220 mm nickel-plated steel blade, with unsharpened edges, remaining bright and crisp, having a very sharp tip. The blade's reverse ricasso is maker marked "W.K.C. WAFFENFABRIK SOLINGEN" (Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Co.) with the company's knight emblem, while the blade itself retains its beautiful crossgraining, with scratches, common to extraction and return to the scabbard, natural shine, near extremely fine. The thick black leather washer at the crossguard junction is in intact. The fittings are silvered brass, featuring the stylized RLB eagle and swastika insignia resting upon the crossguard, exhibiting extensive gilt wear. Dark blue leather-covered grip appears black in colour and shows light crazing and wear, along with scattered nips from active use. Blackened bronze starburst grip emblem has lost some of its gilt, exposing its bronze base, with chipping evident on the black swastika. Oval-shaped pommel exhibits contact marks and surface wear on the butt. The scabbard is silvered steel, magnetic, dark blue leather-covered grip appears black in colour and shows light wear, along with scattered nips similar to that of the dagger grip, and is without dents, the locket held firmly in place by two screws, two dagger hanger rings attached, one affixed to the locket, the other to the band, exhibiting gilt wear throughout on the hardware, the scabbard measuring 270 mm in length. Accompanied by dagger hangers, the leather straps being replacements, while the hardware is metal, non-magnetic and is period. The dagger clip is marked with the "RZM" insignia, maker marked "M5/10" (Wilhelm Deus, Solingen) and marked "D.R.G.M." (Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster), both ring clips are marked "D.R.G.M.". Fine.
