A 1936 Chained SS Leader's Dagger
Chained SS 1936 Leader's Dagger - Measuring approximately 375 mm in length with the scabbard on, this SS Dagger is engraved "Meine Ehre heißt Treue" on the blade, unmarked on the ricasso as per the style on 1936 Leader's Daggers. The blade has visible crossgraining, exhibiting the usual in and out runner marks, with semi-sharp edges and a sharp needle like tip, exhibiting light surface wear, the blade measuring approximately 220 mm in length and rating better then very fine – no rusty spots or nicks. Nickel-plated crossguard butting the blade exhibits surface wear. Ebony-colored wooden handle with embedded aluminum eagle exhibits some slight chipping where it butts the upper crossguard on the opposite side, the handle with multiple contact marks from active use, rates fine. The SS insignia is exhibiting light contact and wear, rates better then very fine. The upper crossguard is nickel-plated, as is the pommel, which remains tight; the dagger measures approximately 342 mm in length. The oxidized body of the scabbard is magnetic with few contact marks, nickel-plated scabbard fittings exhibit light contact, the locket held in place via two screws, the chape with ball finial. Chain is clipped to the locket and band with the traditional skull and SS runes in place, SS marked on the reverse of one link, with clip, magnetic. Untouched dagger, exhibiting overall moderate wear and use, in very fine condition overall.
