19th Century French Artillery Officer's Epaulette Pair with Case -  Large, decorative stiff-framed epaulettes, displaying a small silvered domed Artillery insignia button on a fine silver wire upper, large raised silver bullion wire ridge flanked by rows of fine silver bullion wire on either side of the protruding wide oval cap, thirty-one rows of tightly-wound bullion wire fringe suspended at the end, black wool underside, thickly padded on the underside of the cap, large metal clips (passants) maker marked "BIDAL & PIAT / 3, RUE DE RICHELIEU. PARIS", allowing the epaulettes to be fastened to the shoulders of a uniform, 128 mm x 190 mm x 65 mm each, contact marks on the upper, fabric interruption in the end wire fringes on both epaulettes, near extremely fine. In their case of issue, base with rounded corners, thin wrap-around wooden sides, glued together on one long side, with matching bottom, held together at the seams with a linen-based tape, two white cotton ties on one exterior side and two inside at the foundation, both covered with brown kraft-based tape on the inside and bottom, respectively, with matching lid of similar construction, experiencing a tear in one corner of the base, very fine.
