Persia, Order- of Homayoun (Lion and Sun)
Breast Star, measuring 76 mm, this fine quality silver order features enameled arms between each of the seven intricately patterned star points. It also features a carefully painted enameled centerpiece depicting a sword welding lion. Unmarked, with a vertical pin back. With intact enamels, a nice patina, in nearly extremely fine condition. Scarce version.Footnote: The order was originally founded in 1808 by Shah Feth-Ali in five classes, to reward high-ranking government officials and foreigners for outstanding services to Persia (later Iran). In 1925, the order was re-founded under the Pavlavi dynasty, coming in the traditional five classes, with three medals added.
