A Venezuelan Military Order of General-in-Chief Rafael Urdaneta - 1st Class for Thirty Years' Service, Fullsize and Miniature, Cased; Fullsize: 10K Gold-Filled, silver gilt, marked "1/20 10K GF" (Gold Filled) on the reverse, 43.5 mm, original ribbon with pinback); and Miniature: 10K Gold-Filled, silver gilt, marked "1/20 10K GF" (Gold Filled) on the reverse, 16 mm, without ribbon. Very light contact, extremely fine. Accompanied by its 10 mm x 36 mm Ribbon Bar in its hardshelled case of issue, marked "Condecoración GRAL. RAFAEL URDANETA" and "PRIMERA CLASE" on the lid, maker marked "N.S. MEYER, INC. NEW YORK, U.S.A." on the inside lid, tabbed medal bed, case extremely fine. Footnote: The Order was created by the Revolutionary Junta in 1946 to recognize long and prestigious service in the national armed forces of Venezuela and to encourage military virtues and excellence among career military officers. Rafael José Urdaneta y Faría (1788-1845) was a leading military and political figure in the early Nineteenth Century wars of independence against Spain and in the newly-independent Republic of Venezuela.
