A Rare NSKK Sturmbann Unit Pennant
A Rare NSKK Sturmbann Unit Pennant - Two red cotton fields sewn back-to-back, each with seven pieces of black cotton forming a swastika sewn upon a circular white cotton field in the centre, the outer edge of the circle trimmed in fine black nylon. There are four stacked unit insignias between the hoist sleeve and the swastika on both sides: the first one inscribed "1/M57" in white embroidery on a brown felt field and trimmed in twisted silver bullion wire; the second and third ones are conjoined, inscribed "M1/82" over "1/M57" in silver bullion wire on dark red cotton; the fourth one inscribed "1/MVI" in dark silver bullion wire on bright red cotton. Below the unit insignias on both sides is the NSKK insignia, in silver bullion wire interlaced with white threading on a black felt field and trimmed in angled silver bullion wire. The two longer edges are trimmed in strips of fine gold-coloured tresse, meeting at the point of the pennant, the point reinforced with thirteen rows of chevron-style stitching. Along the hoist side of the pennant are four original clips for pole attachment. The pennant measures 570 mm x 1,090 mm, exhibiting scattered tiny holes and fabric interruptions overall, along with light soiling. Very fine.
