A First War Medal Pair to the Royal Canadian Regiment - 1914-15 Star (477665 Pte S. McVIE. R.CAN:R.); and British War Medal (477665 PTE. S. MC VIE. R.C.R.). Naming is officially impressed. Original ribbons, joined together via a 16.3 mm button with pinback inscribed "SEATTLE COMMUNITY FUND 1927", dark patina on the BWM, residue in the recessed areas of the Star from cleaning, light contact, very fine. Footnote: Samuel McVie was born on August 9, 1894 in London, England. He signed his Attestation Paper as a Private/Trooper (477665) with the Royal Canadian Regiment at Regimental Headquarters in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on August 23, 1915, at the age of 21, naming his next-of-kin as his father, S. McVie of Victoria, British Columbia, stating that he had no previous military service, that he was not married and that his trade was that of Labourer. He survived the war.
